The Virtual Museum of Women in War (Museo Virtual de la Mujer Combatiente, MVMC) is now open for visits at www.mujeresenguerra.com. Based on the ongoing work of  a research group led by Gonzalo Berger (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and Tània Balló, the website features a plethora of resources–including materials from Spanish and international archives, provincial and municipal archives, as well as contributions from family and private archives–to understand the lives and legacies of the women who helped defend the Republic during the Spanish Civil War. The site allows visitors to explore collective data and statistics as well as the individual lives of more than three thousand women involved in the war. Soon, the site will also offer educational resources for secondary-school curricula. The other members of the group include scholars such as Mónica Jato (Birmingham) and Alison Ribeiro de Menezes (Warwick).
