At an improvised press conference last night, Judge Baltasar Garzón denounced the request from Supreme Court Justice Manuel Marchena to have the judicial police investigate his private bank accounts as “lacking all legal foundation” and “very harmful” to him and his family, El País reports. “I have nothing to hide,” the Judge declared. Marchena’s request concerns a report on  “the origins, persons, organizations, or paying entities of all the income received by Garzón not corresponding to his salary as Magistrate for the National Criminal Court between March 1, 2005 and July 30, 2006” (“acerca del origen, persona, organismo o entidad pagadora de todos los ingresos percibidos por Garzón entre el 1 de marzo de 2005 y el 30 de julio de 2006 que no se correspondan con las cantidades abonadas en concepto de nómina por su condición de magistrado de la Audiencia Nacional”).
