Nottingham SCW monument rededicated
A monument to Spanish Civil War volunteers from Nottinghamshire, which has been the object of repeated controversy, was rededicated this week in a special ceremony, the Retford Times reports:
The move brought together the county’s trades council as well as Labour and Liberal Democrat party members at County Hall in Nottingham at the weekend. Twenty-six men from across Nottinghamshire made the treacherous journey to Spain to fight for the Republicans against the fascist forces of General Franco. Nine were killed.
