Brooklyn at War: Spain, 1936-1939
In the spring of 1937 some twenty students from Brooklyn College volunteered to fight in Spain. This unique exhibit, curated by Prof. Alejandro Alonso, in partnership with ALBA, will cover three aspects: political life on campus in the 30s; the impact of the Spanish Civil War and the debates and confrontations that took place there; and the presence of Spanish Exiles in the campus.
Opening: April, 14, 2016. Brooklyn College Library, NY
Is there an event that goes with the opening of the show? Perhaps a talk? What time does the opening take place? My aunt who was a student at BC in the 1930s [now 97] want to attend.
Dear Louise,
There will be panel discussions at 2:15 (pm) and 4:30 (pm) in an auditorium at the Brooklyn College Library on April 14th. The exhibit will then open at 6:30 (pm) in another part of the library. We hope to see the two of you there.
Hello! For how long will the exhibit run?
Thank you!
Laura
The exhibit will be open from April 14 to July 29
Thanks for the interest,
Where can we park for this event? We have an elderly aunt of 93 years, a Brooklyn College student who knew many of the Abraham Lincoln Brigaders, who needs a short walk to the BC library.
What are the hours of the exhibit subsequent to the opening. I can’t make it on Thursday but would like to see it afterwards.
Susan
Unfortunately there is no parking inside, but find a spot around Bedford Av. Should not be a problem. Tect me when you get there. alonso@brooklyn.cuny.edu
