In an interview with Radio Netherlands Worldwide, Baltasar Garzón has condemned the assassination of Osama bin Laden. “Not even the worst terrorist on earth deserves to be killed, especially when other options are still open,” declared the Spanish judge, who is a staunch opponent of the death penalty. “If I do not think the death penalty is justified after a trial, you can imagine what I think of an execution without trial.” Garzón would have preferred Bin Laden to have been arrested and interrogated “observing all the principles of national and international law.” More here (in English) and here (in Dutch).
