“La Colonia” show in the Spanish media
La Colonia: Spanish Immigrants in New York, 1898-1945, the stunning photography exhibit curated by ALBA Board member James D. Fernández and co-sponsored by ALBA, which has been on show for a little over a week now at NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, is generating a lot of media buzz in Spain, as well as enthusiastic responses from the general public. (Videos here.) After the first coverage in El País–which even resulted in Spanish families sending in old family photographs to be included in the exhibit–the newspaper has continued to provide coverage (see for instance Andrea Aguilar’s blog with several videos). In addition, the show has been featured in El Periódico, EFE, as well as in La Voz de Asturias, La Voz de Galicia, and La Nueva España, among other outlets.
