Picasso Exhibit at Tate Liverpool

Pablo Picasso, "The Charnel House" (1944-45)

The History News Network reports on the “Picasso: Peace and Freedom” exhibit at the Tate in Liverpool. The show’s pièce de resistance is the painting The Charnel House, on display in the UK for the first time in fifty years:

The Charnel House was based on a short documentary film about a Spanish Republican family who were killed in their kitchen and acts as a memorial to those killed in France during the Nazi Occupation and under the Vichy Government.
